Extracurricular activities at the American Language Center
November, 11 2012
It has been widely accepted that students involved in extracurricular activities are more likely to become leaders, more willing to complete tasks, more willing to voice opinions, and more likely to work better in teams, as they develop life long and career skills. In the past few years The American Language Center, one of American Councils Moldova subdivisions, has emphasized a broad educational mission: to develop the "whole student" and enhance the curriculum with various teaching methods and resources broadening the academic spectrum.
Our Extra-curricular Specialist Irina Spita has developed an extra-curricular plan of activities for the fall 2012 semester including movie sessions, hand made pizza nights, pumpkin curving and other fun activities not only for entertainment, social, and enjoyment purposes, but most important, to help our students gain and improve conversational skills for lifelong learning. All activities are dedicated to an American cultural event and help our students learn American values.
"Celebrating Halloween was a special occasion for our students and teachers to enjoy designing and curving pumpkins, pumpkin pies and reading a wonderful selection of the funniest jokes and pranks of 2011 and 2012. Next on our extra curricular agenda is celebrating Veterans Day, followed by the "Turkey Day" and enjoying Thanksgiving! We hope this will be the beginning of a good tradition and more and more ALC students will get actively involved in these events." (Irina Spita, Extracurricular specialist, American Language Center)
