English Access Microscholarship Program

The English Access Microscholarship Program (Access) provides a foundation of English language skills to non-elite, 13 – 16 year old students through afterschool classes and intensive summer learning activities. Access students gain an appreciation for American culture and democratic values, increase their ability to participate successfully in the socio-economic development of their countries, and gain the ability to compete for and participate in future U.S. exchange and study programs.

Since its inception in 2004, approximately 150,000 students in more than 85 countries have participated in the Access Program.

Access Microscholarship Program in Moldova

Access Microsholarship Program is an innovative opportunity for teenagers from economically disadvantaged environment to learn English. The program allows them to benefit from free foreign language courses in the regions of Moldova and to develop intercultural skills and communication.

The program is implemented and funded by U.S. Government in Soroca, Ungheni, Vulcănești, Bender, Taraclia, Bălți. Participants will attend classes two times per week for two years, will receive all necessary educational materials and during summer will be invited to a leadership camp. Program graduates who have attended classes regularly, have shown good success in English, appropriate behavior and actively participated in all activities will receive special certificates from the U.S. Embassy.


  • aged 13-16 years at the beginning of the program;
  • average knowledge of English;
  • residents of Soroca, Ungheni, Vulcănești, Bender, Taraclia, Bălți;
  • willingness and ability to participate in the program.
